The problem
You need soft butter and your stick is fridge-cold.
The fix
Five ways, ranked from worst to best:
5. Grate your cold stick of butter with a cheese grater. It softens quickly, but now you have a cheese grater to clean.
4. Put the stick in a freezer bag, close it, throw it onto the couch and sit on it. Turn on your favorite Netflix series, not the fastest in theory, but time flies when you're having fun.
3. Cut the butter into smaller cubes and place them on a warm plate. Definitely faster than waiting for a whole stick to soften.
2. Put the stick between parchment paper and release all your anger on it with a rolling pin to flatten it. Wait a few minutes, softened butter, and you're more relaxed after your anger management session.
1. Pour hot water into a glass, leave it for 10 seconds, pour it out and place the glass upside down over the stick of butter. The trapped heat softens the butter really fast, and since speed was the goal of this ranking, this method wins.
