Keep your bananas fresh longer
Bananas ripen from ethylene gas released at the stem. Wrap plastic around the stem and they last much longer.

The problem
Your bananas ripen faster than you can eat them.
The fix
Next time you buy bananas, wrap food plastic wrap around the stem. The banana will last much longer. And since apples, pears and peaches also produce the same gas, don't store them together with your bananas.
Why it works
Bananas release ethylene gas from the stem, and that gas is what makes the banana ripen. Wrapping the stem slows the process down.
