Easy Patty Melt with Two Cheeses
This was my first time trying a patty melt sandwich, and it's amazing. Two smashed patties, two kinds of cheese and grilled onions between slices of bread, that's it.
Ingredients
- 2 slices sandwich bread (white, rye or sourdough, whatever you want)
- 2 slices American cheese
- 2 slices Dutch Gouda cheese
- 200 g (2 × 100 g) ground beef
- 1 onion, thinly sliced into rings
- to season salt and pepper, generously
Method
- 1
Add two slices of American cheese to one slice of bread and two slices of Gouda to the other.
- 2
Weigh two balls of ground beef, 100 g each. Season generously with salt and pepper and roll the balls through the seasoning.
- 3
Thinly slice an onion into rings.
- 4
Get a good pan, preferably cast iron, ripping hot.
- 5
Smash the two beef balls down into patties and let them develop a nice crust, about a minute.
- 6
Season again in the pan, add the sliced onions on top of the patties and flip them around.
- 7
After a few minutes, add the patties to the sandwich.
- 8
Grill the sandwich on both sides for about 4 minutes, or until golden brown. Look at that juiciness.
