These easy onigiri rice balls are a lovely snack or dinner, whenever you like to eat them. Good rice, wet salted hands, a sheet of nori, that's the whole game.

Ingredients

  • 1 part Japanese short grain rice
  • 1.2 parts water
  • 1 sheet per ball nori
  • a rub salt, for your hands

Method

  1. 1

Cook the Japanese short grain rice for about 12 to 15 minutes, using a ratio of 1 part rice to 1.2 parts water.

  2. 2

Once the rice is done, flip it over a bit and transfer it to a bowl.

  3. 3

Slightly wet your hands and rub some salt between them.

  4. 4

Grab a handful of rice and cup it into a triangular shape.

  5. 5

Add a sheet of nori, and there you have it: onigiri.
