Easy Creamy Caramel Sauce for Any Dessert
Every Friday I make an easy Few Ingredients Friday recipe, this one is easy caramel sauce. It keeps in the fridge for up to a month, so you can spoon it over any dessert whenever you want.
Ingredients
- 100 g sugar
- 60 ml water
- 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 120 ml heavy cream
- a pinch sea salt
Method
- 1
Grab a thick-bottomed saucepan and add the sugar, then immediately add the water and lemon juice. Swirl the pan around.
- 2
Let the caramel heat up on medium heat and do not stir or touch it anymore, otherwise it starts clumping up, and we don't want that.
- 3
Once it starts to turn brown, or reaches 170 °C, add the vanilla extract, the heavy cream and a pinch of sea salt to finish it off. Stir that in.
- 4
Let it reduce for another 5 minutes.
- 5
Warning: it's really, really hot. Let it cool completely before serving, or even touching it.
