My Favorite Breakfast Sandwich (with a Secret Ingredient)
There is a secret ingredient in this egg sandwich. It's the very first recipe I learned as a young kid, and one of two breakfasts I eat every day, this one is dear to my heart.
Ingredients
- 2 slices whole grain bread
- a dot Dutch Zaanse mayonnaise (more sour than most)
- 3 slices young Dutch cheese
- 1 slice York ham, thinly sliced
- enough butter
- 2 eggs
- a sprinkle Aromat (vegetable stock powder), the secret ingredient
- a few cracks pepper
Method
- 1
Start with two slices of whole grain bread and add a dot of Zaanse mayonnaise, this mayonnaise is more sour than most.
- 2
Put a skillet on medium heat and add enough butter.
- 3
Put in the slice of thinly sliced York ham and crack in two eggs. Try not to break the yolks, but if they break, it happens to the best of us. It's okay.
- 4
Immediately add the cheese slices.
- 5
Now the secret ingredient: Aromat, a vegetable stock powder. This stuff wakes up the flavor of your eggs.
- 6
Add a few cracks of pepper, slide it onto the bread and serve. It does it every time.
